Gianfranco Tripodo, born in Manila, Philippines, on 1 August 1981.
He holds a degree in Communications Science from the University of Bologna. Since 2008, he has been working regularly with the most important magazines and newspapers in the world, among many others: The New York Times, Time, The Financial Times, M Le magazine du Le Monde, GQ, Esquire, L'espresso, El País Semanal, Monocle, Rolling Stone, etc.
In addition to his editorial work, he has worked for brands such as Puma, Adidas, Oysho, Orbea HBO, Red Bull, Sony Music. His work is represented by the Italian agency Contrasto.
In 2015 he received the Third Prize in the General News category of the World Press Photo Award with a photograph belonging to the Frontera Sur project. With the same project he has been awarded with the Honourable Mention in the Ponchielli Award, given by the Italian Graphic Editors Association.
His book "DUO 04- Frontera Sur" was a finalist in the Best PHotobook Award at the PHotoEspaña Festival in 2016. He has exhibited his work at La Biennale di Venezia in 2011 and 2014 and at the festival Les Rencontres d'Arles in 2010.
